Smoker's music is a soothing pulsating
'Violent Sun/Violent Fun'
Stephen Paul Smoker, formerly a touring musician for mewithoutYou, The Mint, and Grace Kulp, is now playing his own music in the Chicago area. His new 6-song EP Violent Sun/Violent Fun features a light air of harmony with vocals that are both soothing and weird. The album features strange arrangements and haunting piano. This is definitely not your typical indie rock record. My favorite line is: "will you stop worrying."

I heard this fellow at the north coast music festival in chicago, his great sound drew me from across the midway and I stayed in the crowd until after the encore. The pulsating rhythm underlying slow wash melodies kind of reminded me of the northern lights or something. Definitely a fellow worth checking out!
