"Eight piece band Montagna and the Mouth to Mouth, from Asbury Park, NJ, will be in New York city on April 9th to take part in a benefit concert for the Darfur Rehabilitation project. The show will take place in a small capacity seated theatre at the Duplex, 61 Christopher St., New York, New York 10014. Performances will start early at 6:30 and be finished by 9:00. A $10.00 donation will be collected to benefit the Darfur Rehabilitation Project. The show will feature a set from Montagna and the Mouth to Mouth as well as Amy Marie Keller and Kenny Woods.
The Darfur Rehabilitation Project (DRP) was founded by a group of Darfurians living in the U.S., and deeply concerned about the human rights tragedy occurring in their homeland in western Sudan. DRP is working to unify the voices of Darfurians everywhere and bring increased international attention to bear on the situation there. Longer term, DRP will work to achieve conflict resolution and reconciliation among the ethnic groups in Darfur. DRP fosters the development of democratic institutions and respect for human rights. This event hopes to bring further exposure to Darfur and the on going struggle of it’s people. Overall press coverage of the Darfur genocide has been inadequate. There are still so many Americans that don't understand the urgency of the situation because it hasn't been covered extensively enough in the media.
