Once I found out that MGMT was releasing a new album I waited in anticipation for a single to be posted on their website and soon enough there was "Flash Delirium." Shortly after that track came out, I ventured back to the website and BAM! there was the whole album. Apparently it leaked and the band thought it would be right if they addressed the issue on their site saying: "Hey everybody, the album leaked, and we wanted you to be able to hear it from us. We wanted to offer it as a free download but that didn't make sense to anyone but us."
Immediately I was shocked and began listening to the album, which won't officially come out until April 13. Now, don't get me wrong it is a good album. However, unlike their debut Oracular Spectacular, which was filled with bouncy songs and songs that can pump one up, Congratulations is filled with relaxing, toe tapping songs that one can sway around to.
One song titled "Siberian Breaks" switches moods throughout the song. It features spoken word for a transition, a psychedelic ending, and a short instrumental break. It just so happens that it is the longest track on the album, running at a whopping 12 minutes and 10 seconds. "Lady Dada's Nightmare" is an entirely instrumental song which provokes a slightly disturbing and chilling effect to the listener. However, tracks such as "Flash Delirium," and "Song For Dan Treacy" sounds like something off of Oracular Spectacular compared to the rest of the album. I'd say give the album a good listen or two and then decide if you like it or not. You just might be surprised after a second listen. What do you think?

I listened to the album last night and loved it. But I didn't hear everything off their last album so I had less to compare it to. I was pleased with how they dealt with the leak though. WIsh more bands would give a preview of the album before the release. It shows they have enough confidence in their music that they think people will still buy it after hearing everything the album has to offer.
