Alpha Rev releasing album, playing Wellmont Theatre w/ Third Eye Blind (win tix) & other 2010 tour dates

With New Morning out on April 27, Alpha Rev have lined up tour dates beginning next week. They'll be at the spacious Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ on April 13 and we want to give you a chance to see them (see below). The new release captures the band's mature rock sound. There are pretty melodies and cello, violin, and keyboard with vocals from of the members. The band is led by Casey McPherson. On the band's lead single "New Morning" he sings: "I don't give a damn about the castle on the hill or the gold that we could spend or the horse-shoe half for sale." The second song on the album "Phoenix Burn" is equally compelling. "I need to find a way of letting it go when it falls apart" goes the song. The lyrics are inspirational , honest, and at times moving. That coupled with the music makes this release shine.

In a Spinner interview bass player Alex Dunlop said the following of the band's name: 

Half-Greek, half-Latin -- the words pulled together loosely mean "the beginning of something new." Casey came up with the name, and said it well in a recent interview: "It's that feeling when the light bulb goes off -- that instant of inspiration and redemption ... those moments that keep us going forward."
