I'm seeing Dismemberment Plan, Cymbals Eat Guitars, & Trophy Wife in January!

Yesterday I bought tickets to see The Dismemberment Plan The Starlight Ballroom in Philly on Jan. 27th. It had been sold out for at least a few weeks, the tickets were flying like hotcakes, for the reunited band who split in 2003, and hadn't played a show together since a show in 2007. Thankfully, R5 Productions, who runs many of the Philly shows, released 15 tickets, since two openers got added. These two openers are pretty rad and thus, with a day off from work, a much needed break from NJ/NY, and a chance to see some '90s post-punk, and Cymbals Eat Guitars and Trophy Wife, the decision was made. Now I'll have to admit I'm not all familiar with The Dismemberment Plan- I was only five when they formed. But I trusted that they would be good and if not there were two great openers playing, so spending $20 on a ticket was not a big to me. It seemed like just the right price. Since purchasing the tickets, I've listened to a few songs from "The Plan," and am most excited.

Now let's talk about the openers if you're unfamiliar. Cymbals Eat Guitar are based in State Island with members hailing from New Jersey. The band presents an experimental indie rock sound that is depicted nicely in the song "And the Hazy Sea." Trophy Wife is a heavy grunge duo from Philadelphia, formerly from Washington DC. They have a new record out called Patience Fury. If you're attending this show, I urge you to check out these openers.

See some videos of the bands below.
