Montclair, New Jersey's The Porchistas take pride in their
self-released music. The Baby Album is a self-made effort was recorded and produced
in singer Alan's house in Montclair, that doubles as studio for the
band, by guitarist Adam Falzer. The cover art is a charcoal drawing
from Montclair painter and good friend of the band's, James Adelman. The cds were printed and made by the band. The album hits close to home.
The way the album was created reflects
the lyrical themes in the album, such as family, community, love,
history, and nature, and children, which is the core of the album.
Musically it's hippy-folk pop and punk. “Friends of the Underground appropriately kicks off the album and
is a homage to the community that helps the band grow.
“The Baby” the title refers to is
Adam Falzer's unborn son Harry, who is expected in July. Harry is
named after George Harrison and Harry Nilsson, some of the band's
influences.
