Album Review: Wagers- New Guilt

Wagers- New Guilt
Brooklyn, NY
Punk/Rock/Indie
Released Feb. 28, 2011

For fans of: Foo Fighters, The Replacements, Husker Du, Superchunk, Ramones

Maybe it's that Brooklyn breeds many indie-punk bands, but I haven't been disappointed with any of these releases. Wagers is no exception. And their brand of punk rock goodness reminds me of a faster punk rock Foo Fighters meets Replacements. Boy, was I pleased to hear this influence. The best songs are "Spun," "Drunk Dial," and "Running Wild." The way the bass and guitar work together to deliver just the right amount of pop goodness to the punk tunes is wonderful accomplished. I just want to shake about when I listen to these songs. I definitely hear some '90s influence in this album. The band is giving it away for free, so snag it up.
