Happy Thursday. 

There are some pretty cool shows happening tonight. The last official RXP/ Anything, Anything show at Bowery Electric featuring Big Eyes, The Naturals, and Paul Collins perform for night of power pop. Hosted by Rich Russo. What a shame his program and RXP are no more. More info here. There's also A Million Years at Mercury Lounge. Listen to tunes here. Then there's Poison Control Center at Cake Shop, who Amy of Titus Andronicus/ Hilly Eye describes live as "a mix of a classic Street Fighter video game and the nerdiest indie pop you’ve ever seen—but with the hard-est core circle pit thrown in for good measure." Bern & the Brights to play Union County Music Fest this Saturday

Montclair’s own Bern & the Brights will perform at this weekend's Union County Music Fest in Clark, NJ this Saturday, September 11th on the 101.9RXP stage at 2:45PM. Watch them dazzle you with their sweet rhythms and mesmerizing vocals that'll get your dancing. Alpha Rev to perform RXP Session at chocolate store in NYC on 4/22

Alpha Rev will be performing a 101.9 RXP Session at Jacques Torres Chocolate on April 22, a day after their show at Hiro Ballroom. The band will kick things off nice and early at 9am. The perks? Of course you get to hear some sweet tunes, and also the first 101 listeners to arrive will receive a free hot chocolate or coffee. You might even be able to say hi to some RXP DJ's or even the band. Bern & the Brights to perform RXP "Pull the Plug" show on Thursday, opening for Rhett Miller on April 1

Montclair's Bern & the Brights will be performing at Angels & Kings this Thursday night for 101.9 RXP's "Pull the Plug" acoustic nights series. The show is free at 8pm. Angels & Kings is located at 500 East 11th st. bet Ave A & Ave B in NYC. From 7-9pm 2-for-1 drinks.

The self-described "danceable romantic nerd rock" band is one of the brightest in New Jersey. They truly shine live and play shows pretty frequently. In the next month the band already have 8 shows lined-up in NJ and NYC.

RXP to host battle of the bands in South Orange, NJ this Saturday

This Saturday, January 23 Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram from WRXP 101.9 will host a night of live music with food and drinks at Our Lady of Sorriw Gym in South Orange, NJ. The event will benefit the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Felt, Shark Hat, 3rd Gear, Juice Box, and Dark Horse will perform. Tickets are $30 for music, food, and drinks. The battle of the basement bands is from 7pm-midnight. Our Lady of Sorrow is located at 163 Prospect Street, South Orange, NJ. More info is available here.

Muse & Silversun Pickups 2010 Tour Dates, MSG on 3/5 & pre-sale on Wednesday

Muse will tour the U.S. in 2010 in support of their latest album, The Resistance. The band have announced six dates, so far, including one at New York's Madison Square Garden. The band return to the world famous arena on March 5. The band performed at the garden in 2007 with Cold War Kids. Now Silversun Pickups will open all the shows. 101.9 RXP will present the show Tickets are on-sale Saturday Dec. 12 at noon. There is a fan pre-sale here this Wednesday at 10am.

Muse opened for U2 in September, playing two sold out dates at Giants Stadium. Silversun Pickups have been nominated has best new artists along with MGMT, The Ting Tings, Zac Brown Band, and Keri Hilson.

The British rock band mix progressive rock, classical, and electronica for a musical experience that is unparalleled. The Resistance is the band's fifth studio album. Silversun Pickups bring an equally compelling sound.

The Bravery @ Webster Hall, NYC 10-8-09


The Bravery, New York's dance/rock 5-piece played at the studio of Webster Hall a day before their gig at Terminal 5. The event was for an RXP session with NYC radio station 101.9 The 300 capacity venue with lounge couches made the event feel intimate and exclusive. There was probably only around 50 people there. The band played 3 new songs including "Slow Poison" and two of their hits. The band sounded pretty good, however during "Believe" a bass string broke about a minute in, so they had to start over. After the set Matt Pinfield interviewed the band and took questions from the audience. Upon leaving, fans received stickers and autographed posters. The most interesting part of the show was when singer Sam Endicott said "Believe" was written in a bar in NYC and that he would write lyrics on napkins.

The band's new album Stir the Blood is out on Nov. 10.
