Mukilteo, Washington based band The Fall of Troy have announced that their upcoming tour in March with Long Island's Envy on the Coast and U.K.'s Twin Atlantic will be the band's last. The post-hardcore trio were known for combining technical guitar sounds, driving beats, and melody that made for a  fun and wild live show. Their last cd, In the Unlikely Event was released October 6, 2009.

Vocalist and guitarist Thomas Erak said:

I write to inform you that after nearly 9 years, 5 full-lengths, 2 bass players, hundreds of shows, and numerous other achievements and follies, Andrew, Frank, and I have decided to end our career as The Fall of Troy.
The band's previous albums were The Fall of Troy, Doppelgänger, Manipulator, and Phantom of the Horizon. Their last three releases were all on Equal Vision Records.

We caught the band when they performed at Bowery Ballroom in NYC with Thursday, Moving Mountains, Kiss Kiss, and Young Widows in September 20, 2009.The band got the crowd going and played a good mixture of new songs and older songs.  From 2009's "Panic Attack" to 2005's "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X." they zipped through a bunch of favorites. They even performed one of their lightest songs "Webs" from their latest release, which showcases the band's ability to tone it down. Thomas went into the crowd a few times and the fans pushed him back. His interaction with the audience and sincerity was nice to see. After the set a few people up front were excited to talk to bassist Frank and said something along the lines of great job. The crowd exploded during the set and it was pretty fun.

The break-up was just announced on Feb. 26 and already comments are flooding in. If you take a look at the band's MySpace, Twitter, or Facebook comments you'll see how deeply this band has left their mark. Some of the comments almost put me to tears, I can only imagine how the band feels.

In the letter Erak continues:

This band has been my life, my love, the air I breathe, the food I eat, and what helps me sleep (and sometimes keeps me up) at night.  I love and cherish the music we've made, the times we've had, and all the great friends we've met along the way.  Andrew, Frank, and of course Tim, will always and forever have a special place in my heart.  But it has come time for us to call it a day.  After everything's said and done, there is no drama, there is no blow out, it's simply the three members of this band are on three different paths in our lives.

I always hold true to the fact that it's better to go out in style, to ride off into the sunset, than go down in flames.  This tour coming up with Envy On The Coast and Twin Atlantic will be our last go round, and we really hope that all of you will come out and celebrate what has been so unreal and unbelievable – let's dance one last time! The band start tour on March 6 in Illinois and close April 25 in Connecticut that'll take them across the U.S with stops at Austin's SXSW. They perform at Irving Plaza in NYC on April 24. Ticket are available here for $16 or at the Irving Plaza box office. For those upstate, they have a Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany date schedule in April. Those in PA can see the band in Pittsburgh, Allentown and Philadelphia. Erak also mentioned that he has "no intention to stop making music!"
