First Day of Summer: What to Do Today

Today is the longest day of the year. What better way to celebrate then with some concerts. Free ones at that! All day its the Make Music NY festival featuring hundreds of free concerts across NYC's 5 boroughs. Chances are if you're in the area, you'll come across a free show in some public space. Here are just a few concerts to check out: 

2-3pm Hank and Cupcakes @ Loving Cup Cafe/Cameo Gallery, Brooklyn, NY
5-6pm Naked Heroes @ The Sweatshop, 573 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn.
5-6pm MiniBoone @ Spike Hill, 184 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
5:15-5:45pm Chica Vas @ in front of Sodafine, 119 Grand Street, Brooklyn, NY
8-9pm MiniBoone @ The Palace Rooftop, 838 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY.Apt. 3

In addition, Denmark artist CallMeKat is in town for a show at Scandinavia House, 38th and Park Ave., tonight for their Annual Midsummer Concert along with Swedish guitarist Samuel Hällkvist, and Icelandic cellist and former ASF Fellow Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir. Doors at 6:30pm/Concert 7pm, with CALLmeKAT on at 7:45pm. Refreshments will be provided on the terrace, and the artists will perform in front of a set of giant glass windows, with the sun setting behind them.

Free Frog Eyes performance at Soundfix in Brooklyn. 7pm.

Anna Rose and Edward Rogers are at Bowery Electric today. Open bar 7:15-8:15pm. 

Emanuel and the Fear perform at Knitting Factory tonight! 

Jimmy Gnecco of OURS at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck, NJ.
