WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) will be the first radio station to air "Quicksand," singer-songwriter and guitarist Ry Cooder's new, unreleased song about the Arizona immigration law, on Thursday, June 10th at 8:30 AM and 3:45 PM EST. The song will be prefaced by FUV Morning host Claudia Marshall's interview with Cooder. Programmers at WFUV first heard about the song through New Yorker writer Alec Wilkinson and managed to get their hands on a copy to exclusively share with listeners. Known for his thoughtful storytelling style, Cooder takes on the controversial law as only he can. Listeners can hear the debut of "Quicksand" on 90.7 FM in New York and wfuv.org around the world.
Cooder has collaborated with musicians including The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Earl Hines, Little Feat, Captain Beefheart, The Chieftains, Mavis Staples, Gabby Pahinui, Flaco Jiménez, Freddy Fender, and many more.
"Quicksand" will be available exclusively on iTunes beginning June 29th. All proceed support MALDEF, the Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund.
