Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney fame is releasing a new album this fall called 1,000 Years on October 5 through Kill Rock Stars. Shortly after the release she'll head on a small tour including dates on the east coast. Of note, is a show at Maxwell's in Hoboken on Oct. 23 and Bowery Ballroom In NYC on Oct. 26. Tickets for Maxwell's available here and for Bowery Ballroom here.
...“1,000 Years” reveals the one-time Riot Grrrl as she is nearly 20 years after she began her career: as a full-grown Riot Woman. Old enough to trace the complexities of adult life, love and family, but still young enough to know better.
Cue the wrenching rhythms and hard-angle melodies, the slashing guitars and wildly passionate vocals. Only now the hard edges come nestled in lush weaves of acoustic guitars, keyboards, interlocking percussion, even cellos and violins.
“That’s the artistic, itchy personality,” Tucker says. “You’re constantly trying to do something different.”
