This Saturday catch say goodnight mean goodbye, The Woodz, and The Porchistas for a night of folk, rock, and punk at Hell's Kitchen in Newark (a few blocks from Penn Station). Cover is $5 and it starts at 9pm.
I just caught the Porchistas at Groove on Grove in Jersey City and despite not having a bass player, they rocked. They played a song about PBR and a catchy song called "Oh We Oh Why." Check 'em out here: www.theporchistas.com

Metal Show f/ Luminis, Methodical, and Order of Destruction in Newark, NJ this Saturday
Metal is back in Newark, NJ this Saturday. Kaza Rock Productions is hosting a metal night featuring symphonic metal from Luminis, industrial metal from Methodical, and thrash from Order of Destruction at Muralhas Underground. The show begins at 10pm and costs $10. 18+, 21 to drink.
Luminis started as a tribute band to bands like Nightwish, Epica, and Within Temptation, but are now working on original songs. You can hear their version of Nightwish's "Nemo" and a clip of Lacuna's Coil's "Swamped" along with other songs at their MySpace. Hailing from Springfield, New Jersey this band deliver a sound that hasn't been heard too often in the state. But some might remember our post on symphonic act, Operatika. So, thankfully the genre may not be as dead in Jersey as we think.
Methodical is a 6 member industrial metal band with a position. They are against abuse of any kind and aim to raise awareness of suicide prevention. They hope to instill strength and hope in their listeners. Their self titled album was released last year on Toxic Shock Records.
