The Everymen to release new LP on Oct. 9 on Killing Horse Records, free song download available
Rock'N'Roll gets hardcore when The Everymen are involved. It's exciting to report that Killing Horse Records will be releasing The Everymen's new album, New Jersey Hardcore, on October 9 as a 12'' Vinyl, and CD, and of course digitally. I'm a sucker for the dual co-ed vocals, as well as a good saxophone and frantic r'n'r. This is KHR's 14th release but 1st 12'' vinyl record. Ok, I'll stop nerding out about numbers for a sec and let you know that this band is a 7-piece (oops, did it anyway) rock'n'roll band from the Jersey Shore. Yep, that's right, they know how to have fun.

Review: Secret Country- Seven Days A Week 7''
Secret Country
7 Days A Week 7''
Killing Horse Records
Release: May 22, 2012
A: 7 Days A Week
B: Deep-Fried Delight
Secret Country make country music sound like fun rock'n'roll with the same southern toned lyrics about booze and good eating. It's refreshing to hear their style in the unsuspecting town of Kearny, New Jersey. There's no guessing about what the lyrics mean here, they're singing about drinkin' 7 days a week, real party animals, I tell you. With songs about whiskey, fried-chicken, and plus-sized love, it's hard to not smile, sing-a-long, and dance when you listen to these songs. These songs definitely translate well live and put you in the mood to have fun. Country is one of my least favorite genres but Secret Country seem to get it right in the best way. A stream of the title track is available for your listening pleasure above.
The two songs will be available on 300 black 7'' vinyl records on May 22nd but of course the party will start early. What better place for a record release show for Secret Country then at Donegal Saloon in their hometown of Kearny? The whole shabang goes does Friday, May 18th. So come down to support them. Opening is soulful rockers Old Wives and indie/folk band Thomas Wesley Stern. More info here. If you dig the tunes, you can pre-order the record here or get one at the show.

Screaming Females, No Pasaran, Ben Franklin, Eula in Kearny, NJ on May 6th
I'm pleased to announce my former hometown of Kearny, NJ will witness a quadruple shot of rock when Screaming Females, No Pasaran, Ben Franklin, and Eula come to play there on May 6th. It's a Friday, one of the best days to go out, so why not catch a show? If the weather turns out nice that evening I'm going to plan a bike ride starting in Newark to the venue, The Irish at 95 Kearny Ave, a short 15-20 minute breeze of a ride. This show is being put together by the good folks at Killing Horse Records ,who house Ben Franklin and No Pasaran. Ben Franklin just dropped their wicked good 7'' single called Urgency and No Pasaran is in the studio working on their 7'' single to be released this summer. Eula is coming out from CT for this gig. I haven't heard them but the Facebook invite calls them noisey post-punk, which sounds good to me. Screaming Females, of course will bring the sweet licks and dancey bass for a dashing rock 'n' roll live show that will leave a jaw-dropping impression. 10 beans for this one.
