Black Gold opening for Rooney at School of Rock (NJ) on 7/17, win a CD

Brooklyn based duo Black Gold is back at School of Rock on July 17th. This time they open for Rooney, The Young Veins, and local opener Endeavor, a dual female/male fronted pop/rock band. Tickets are available for $15 through Ticketweb. Doors are at 6:30pm. The duo deliver a sound with spot on melodies and sexy vocals and keyboard from ex-Panic at the Disco! musician Eric Ronick. Than Luu has worked with M. Ward and Rachael Yamagata and keeps the beat on percussion and also plays guitar.

The band's biography is strikingly poetic and just about right, at least in my mind.

Live Review: Black Gold / Sherwood / Reece / Morning @ School of Rock, South Hackensack, NJ

I had the pleasure of seeing Black Gold perform at the School of Rock in South Hackensack, NJ. on March 10th. When Black Gold took the stage, my mouth started to water over Erick Ronick's (ex-Panic! At the Disco keyboardist) keyboard-it is gorgeous! With the amount of dancing that went on, it surely seemed that the crowd responded very well to their set list, which included “Detroit,” “Shine,” and “The Come Down.” I must say Eric Ronick is an amazing vocalist and keyboardist and Than Luu really knows how to play the drums. I could not believe how much heart and soul this band put into their performance. 

Though their bassist had some technical difficulties the band managed to push through the challenge at hand and put on an amazing show. The talent this duo has left me speechless. What I listened to on their MySpace page, and what I heard live blew me out of the water (and that's a good thing). I even picked up a copy of their CD Rush and I can't stop listening to it. This duo is one to watch out for. With their energy and talent there is nothing they can't do or achieve!

Morning to open for Black Gold & Sherwood at School of Rock (NJ) 3/16

Morning.., a 5-piece NJ rock band from the Bergen and Passaic County areas, have a show with Black Gold and Sherwood at the School of Rock in South Hackensack, NJ on March 16. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door. Get their early to catch Morning, who play first at 7pm. In December the band opened for pop/punk band Weston at Maxwell's.
